Department of Horticulture 


  • Offering high quality education and training, conducting demand driven and problem solving research and consultancy as well as community service in the area of Horticulture while protecting and enhancing the environment.

Entry requirement

  • Undergraduate applicants for degree studies are required to have completed their preparatory education in natural science and pass the entrance examination prepared by the Ethiopian ministry of education.
  • Others graduated with diploma in the field of Horticulture, Plant sciences, General Agriculture and other related fields from recognized institutions.

Study program Description

  • The program aims to provide knowledge and skill necessary for production, management, postharvest handling and marketing of Horticultural crops.
  • It will also provide knowledge and skill for designing, construction and management of public, residential, and institutional landscape.
  • In addition the program will enable students to work in managerial or expert position in horticultural businesses as well as developing entrepreneurship skill to start their own horticulture business.
