A rapid increase in drug addiction among students of academic institutions has emerged as a serious social problem confronting the contemporary community. The processes that lead to drug addiction among students of higher education institutions and how it affects their everyday life has to be explore by different actions . Considering this fact, Wolkite University has provided life skills TOT training for clubs and association leaders.
The training was officially opened by Mrs. Meseret Asrat ,Wolkite University Women affairs & HIV/AIDS Control & Prevention Director, and in her opening speech Mrs. Meseret said that to prevent students from drugs addiction, to escape those students who are victim in drug addiction and to develop a comprehensive strategy to address the alarming problem of drug addiction this type of TOT training shall play its own significant role. Mrs. Meseret also added that productive citizens must have the skills of how to be successful and competitive in their field of study and career.
The training was given by Dr. Sofiya Menu, instructor in College of Health & Medicine. Dr. Sofiya has been given detail explanation on HIV / AIDS, Reproductive Health and Drug Abuse.
The training participants also said that we have got ample experience from the training.
