The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (AVP) at Wolkite University plays a vital role in leading, coordinating, and facilitating the university’s academic initiatives, ensuring that all academic functions are aligned with the institution's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Leadership and Oversight: Oversee the development and management of undergraduate and graduate programs, continuing education, distance learning, teaching support, staff affairs, the registrar’s office, library services, and the enhancement of academic quality and standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the establishment of academic priorities, the development of program plans, faculty recruitment and development, and the management of academic initiatives to strengthen the university’s academic profile.
  • Collaboration with Administration: Partner with the President to advance academic affairs and collaborate with other Vice Presidents to shape the university’s academic direction, priorities, and policies.
  • Policy Formulation: Design, implement, and monitor policies, rules, and guidelines that govern academic programs, academic staff, and students, ensuring alignment with the university’s overall goals.
  • Mission Support: Further the university’s academic mission by creating programs, policies, procedures, and standards for faculty and staff recruitment, evaluation, development, as well as program reviews and resource allocation.
  • Staff Recruitment and Advancement: Ensure the recruitment, employment, and promotion of academic staff adhere to university procedures and standards.
  • Institutional Coordination: Foster coordination across the university’s various colleges, programs, and services to maintain a unified institutional approach.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Lead and implement strategic initiatives that position the university effectively within its academic environment and beyond.
  • Program Review and Improvement: Manage periodic reviews of academic programs and work closely with academic units to improve curricula and instructional methodologies.
  • Industry Partnerships: Establish and nurture partnerships with industries and other institutions to advance the university’s academic mission.
  • Graduate Outcomes: Ensure that academic programs equip students with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to meet national development needs.
  • Oversight and Evaluation: Monitor strategic and operational planning for colleges and reporting units, ensuring that best practices are followed, and performance is evaluated, and effective internal and external relationships are cultivated.
  • Presidential Duties: Undertake any other responsibilities as delegated by the President.
