An Overview of Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at Wolkite University was established under the College of Natural and Computational Sciences with a vision to promote academic excellence, scientific research, and community service in the field of chemical sciences. Since its establishment, the department has played a vital role in educating students who contribute to various sectors such as education, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, environmental science, and public health.

The department launched the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry program to produce graduates equipped with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical values necessary for addressing national and global challenges through chemistry. Building on this foundation, the department later introduced a Master of Science (MSc) in Chemistry program aimed at producing high-level professionals and researchers who can contribute to Ethiopia's scientific and industrial advancement.

Through teaching, research, and outreach activities, the department is committed to national development and environmental sustainability, while fostering partnerships with research institutions, industries, and community stakeholders.
