Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Instruction
- Deliver undergraduate programs in English Language and Literature, with courses such as grammar, phonetics, syntax, semantics, world literature, African literature, literary theory, and academic writing.
- Offer common English courses (e.g., Communicative English Skills) to students across various colleges of the university.
- Guide students in research projects, theses, and presentations.
Research and Publication
- Conduct research in linguistics, literary studies, English language teaching (ELT), sociolinguistics, and discourse analysis.
- Publish academic articles, conference papers, and literary works that contribute to national and international scholarship.
Curriculum Development and Quality Assurance
- Regularly review and update the curriculum to align with contemporary pedagogical practices and labor market needs.
- Ensure high standards of instruction, assessment, and student support services.
Community and Institutional Services
- Provide English language training, editing, and proofreading services to the university and surrounding communities.
