The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Wolkite University is an academic department dedicated to advancing the understanding of spatial relationships, human-environment interactions, and sustainable development. The department integrates theoretical knowledge with practical fieldwork and geospatial technologies to analyze and address critical environmental, social, and developmental challenges facing Ethiopia and the world.
It aims to produce graduates equipped with strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills who can contribute to national development in areas such as urban planning, natural resource management, environmental protection, disaster risk reduction, and geographic information systems (GIS).
